The U.S. Navy confirmed that we will receive the F-14 Tomcat shown in this photo in late summer. When our aircraft arrives, we will be one of only a few aviation museums in the United States, and the only one in Colorado, with an F-14, F-15, and F-16 on display. The F-14 Tomcat was highlighted in two movies (Top Gun and Top Gun-Maverick).
On Saturday, August 22, 2026 our museum is having an Operation Tomcat Festival to celebrate America’s 250th birthday, Colorado’s 150th birthday, and honor our veterans. All proceeds received from the festival will be used to help pay transportation costs to get our Tomcat to Pueblo. To those who donated to get our A-10A Thunderbolt II to our museum, thank you! All donations, large and small, were important and allowed us to obtain our A-10A in June 2025. This unique aircraft is now at home in hangar 2.
Our A10-A, commonly known as the Warthog, was constructed in 1978 and is a combat veteran that flew 64 missions in Operation Desert Storm. It was responsible for destroying one tank, one personnel carrier, one missile carrier, nine radar sites, twelve trucks, and eleven artillery pieces during the conflict.
The pilot’s name on our Warthog is Captain Steve Phillis, a native of Rock Island, Illinois and a 1982 graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy. While flying a different A-10, Captain Phillis was killed in action during the Gulf War in 1991and was posthumously awarded the Silver Star.

Located on the PWAM campus in Hangar 2, The Southern Colorado Space Museum & Learning Center is dedicated to preserving the history and advancing the future of the space program, while sparking the imaginations of both young and old.
On display are some extremely rare artifacts that tell the captivating story of space exploration.
